Hi All

I have a 30 gallon container that I collect my re-constituted RO in.

Currently I have been carrying the water by hand/bucket to the tank.

I am looking for advice on a submersible pump.

The container is ~10ft horizontally from the tank, and 4ft vertically.

Thoughts?

I simply connect a rubber tubing to a power head to pump the water to where you need to. I got the tubing 3/4" from Orchard Supplies, 18' long. I use it to pump out and to replace water.

I have always used this pump===> http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3DTD1

It uses two garden house attachments on each end.

That 4' vertical measurement is from the top of the tank to the bottom of the barrel, right?

If so, you don't need a very powerful pump, at all. I'd try a Quiet One 1200, like this-

I haven't used that brand, but I haven't heard bad things, either. Don't scrimp on the hose diameter- 1/2" should be fine, 5/8" even better... It's only 30gals at low head, so it really shouldn't take more than a few minutes...

Edit- if it's not fast enough, send it back for the 2200, or get the 2200 in the first place...

Yup. I think I might give that one a try. And buying from DrsF&S earns the forums a few cents, oh so much the better.

I got my 1200 set up today. It took 10 minutes or so to move my 25 gallons to the tank. Much less messy than carrying buckets. And it halfed my total time for water change. Not to mention the reduced stress from the bucket being poured.

I think I maybe shoudl have gotten the larger pump, to trim off another couple of minutes; but this one allows me some more standing at the tnak watching the fish time. ;)

Hey Stew, how's the noise/hum factor?? Do they live up to the billing of being quiet?

Thanks,
Tim
