Is there a way to search someone's earliest posts when he has more than 500?

I'm not sure if there is a better way, but the best way I know is to use the "Advanced" search keying in the "user"'s name and adding a "key word" I can remember being in their post that I'm searching for.

The date options are a bit broad and paging through their historical posts can be tidious.

I'm not looking for a specific post, David. I just want to know if I can read people's earliest posts when they have posted more than 500.

I took a shot that you might want something specific, but you can page through user historical posts under their profile and their statistics tab. In the upper right there are page numbers to jump back or "last" that would take you to the beginning of their first posts. There is no other way that I'm aware of.

I tried that. It only takes me to the 500th post.

There is a system limit of 500 results set.

The posts don't go away; they are searchable if you know a keyword that you're looking for. Otherwise, the board will only show you the last 500 posts by a user. I guess vBulletin assumes that if you need something older than that you'll search by keyword.

No key word - it's useful for estimating someone's experience level when they are giving advice. No matter. :) Thread searches usually prove to be sufficient and people seldom have more than 500 threads!
