Eight of Martha's babies are living with me now. They've arranged themselves in a large stand of water sprite pretending to be Christmas tree ornaments and continuously demanding to be fed. They're gorgeous! (And thanks for the white worms - my wife hasn't found out they're in the wine refrigerator yet).

Hi everyone: I went and bought 4 baby blue sapphires from Martha two weeks ago. These little guys are so cute. They have grown some, and I have them in a 40 reg with my one and only non-blue solid..the blue snakeskin that I purchased from Hendri a while back. He/she is now the designated baby-sitter for these 4 little guys and they all love to be together. The snakeskin is such a good babysitter....he/she will not tolerate bullying of one baby from another, and the little guys like being around him/her...makes them feel safe. Anyway...this is my quarantine tank, and my Hi-body Bds from Kenny will soon join them in here too...and they will grow out to be huge monsters in this tank. Updates of my two BD adult pairs are posted on the "blue delight" thread in the photo section. Thanks for looking! mike:)

Thanks David! One of the little guys got stuck in the drain pump intake yesterday. Poor thing. His eye and lips were swollen out to here, his nose bright red with blood and his body dented and marked. I thought he was doomed. Today he was out eating and I can barely tell him from the others! I think his lips aren't quite on straight though.

mikel
11-18-2009, 06:35 AM
OHHHHHH, poor little guy! I hope he'll be ok, but seems like these guys are like little kids, very resilient. Fall face down and bang a big bruise on the head, then they run off to the jungle gym, screaming and yelling like nothing happened....

Martha, I made another batch of mix...this time using 3/4 BH prepared by Stop and Shop (and further trimmed by me) and only 1/4 shrimp plus other stuff....your little guys prefer my all seafood mix (with cod, salmon and prawn) made previously but my older fish likes the BH mix...wierd. The blue snakeskin baby sitter will eat anything. :):):)mike

I know what you mean...what i find very helpful is a really really sharp set of knives..from the cleaver size all the way down to the small peeling knives with jagged edges. Keep them really sharp, and this way, you can just slice off all the membranes and the white fats, like a surgeon would....then just domp everything into a good processor or a grinder. Have fun and say hi to the kitties for us! mike:):):)

And what else, do you think? Cobalts? I don't know the genetic line of either, and people like to know what their babies are going to grow up to look like. They're both quite nice though...maybe.

See you soon. :)

Martha

You are correct in not wanting to cross any old fish, I hate whrn I read about someone saying that they have A mated pair and they are elated, and their pair is A red cover and A blue diamond, that just kills me.................... with all that being said I think that dpt8 maybe right that could be A good cross producing some nice blue turqs. give it A shot, grow some out and if they don't turn out like you exspect chaulk it up as A learning exsperience..... A small batch hatched out this am but it really is small. If the parents want to bother with them I guess I will. Sapphires have a 'glossier' blue and mine don't go dark in tanks with a dark background. I was concerned they wouldn't go dark with fry but they do. Hector, LOL you know full well where I got them.

My apologies for not getting back to people. I had surgery on my foot and I've just been released from hospital yesterday. As a result, I didn't have access to a computer for the last week and a half or so.
