I have 6 young discus, originally from Trition in this summer at quarter size.
Farther and mother see here:

They are now about 4 to 5 inches. Eat home-made beef heart, blood worms and Tetra Color Tropical Granules. Are they normal size at this age? Can anyone tell me what kind of discus they are? Thanks a lot!

Father and Mother from Triton. Why none of them looks like the mother?

Thanks for the reply. Now I know it.
I was confused because I went to a local store and found the same fish, but they call them Blue Turq. :D

They could be....depends on how they turn out when they are fully grown. They have some beautiful line patterns.

Well the one parent definitely looks like a Red Alenquer, not sure of the other one, so obviously they are a cross of the two.

Your red turqs are definitely superior to any discus for sale in quality that I have seen around Boston. Great job with them....they look excellent! mike

I agree with the majority. Definately look like Red Turk/Red Scribbelt
variety.
Also believe they are very healthy, beautiful fish. Good luck with them.

Thanks for all the replies. :balloon:
These kids look like some nice red turqs to me judging from the phenotype. In genetics they seem to be golden gene carriers, i.e. golden intemediates, since the mom is a golden leopard. Golden is a recessive gene, and this is why none of them resemble their mom. Further cross between them will produce some golden-base discus I guess. Can't wait to see how they will turn out in a few months:D
