Hi everyone, this will be my first attempt on discus. I have the tank and stand right now tank measures 48"x18"x30" . Any suggestions on lighting? And also i was thinking about the fluval fx5. I'm looking forward to this build and meeting everyone on here. Thanks

Cool, then this will depend on the type of plants you will be keeping. Low light level plants, etc.

I am not a planted tank guy but since you are going with a planted tank, find out what plants you want to keep and I am sure some of the planted tank experts can give some feedback for your requirements.

i think im going w/ more of a hard scape w/ low light plants on the bottom. i really want the lights to show off the discus more than anything.
