I'm looking to pipe some tanks to a central filtration system and I'm planning on a standpipe overflow for the drain from the tank. Is there any reason not to oversize this, say 1.5" piping (2" hole in tank)?

Thanks,

Jeff

Can't really see any reason why not. Somebody here has posted pics of a similar system using tanks drilled in the back, with elbows, standpipes and strainers. I liked the idea of that, because the elbow can be rotated to drain the tanks to a preset level, or adjusted to maintain whatever water level you want...

I'd want strainers, just so the overflow would be less likely to clog. Maybe like this-

I've had excellent results using their uniseals on storage barrel plumbing, and they'd probably do well instead of bulkhead fittings... I use Pam cooking spray as an assembly lubricant- works great.
