awesome tank. how are you changing the background lighting? are you putting different colored lights on the wall behind the tank?

Nice!!!

You said 2 bubbles of CO2 per second? I have it at 3 bubbles per minute :o and don't see the supposedly magical results yet... Just wanted to make sure that you wrote what you meant so that I don't increase it rapidly to kill the fish! Thanks.

At 3 bubbles per minute - you're hardly putting any CO2 into the water. I run my planted tanks at around 1-2 bubble per second.

I think you want to start out with a bubble every 3-4 seconds and crank it up from there.

Thanks Wahter. I suspected so, but I wanted to confirm before I increased it.

Great tank!! I love the wood work!

And I second 3dees question! What are you doing for your background? Is that light on your wall, or you have some kind of background material on the tank and light shining through it?

Thanks Wahter. I suspected so, but I wanted to confirm before I increased it.
You should probably get a drop checker. While not perfect, it's better than just guessing how much co2 you have. I don't even have pressurized yet, but when I get, I'll get a drop checker at the same time.

Now that's a setup that i will not mind to have.

Great wood work!!

Hi guys, thank you for your kind words, if anyone needs any help with the setup or tips feel free and pm me! the background is RGB led lighting attached to the back of the tank and not internally, it has remote controls and all to change colours :).

All i did is put a led strip on the top part of the tank and one on the low one and directed them on the wall, each has a different rgb controller then with a remote control i can make combinations or change volume of lighting etc :D.

Is it similar to these LED ropes (http://www.ledropelightsandmore.com/custom-cut.html) that people put behind their LCD tv's to give accent lighting?

That's actually a very cool idea! I'm a huge home theater fanatic (even more than discus) and I've seen those LED ropes for quite some time and never thought about using them for my discus tank!

Its Led strips not ropes, strips have stick on them, and they are not simple led strips they are RGB, means they have a controller to change colours, google RGB led strip and you should get results. You will need 2 however especiall if your tank is as big as mine , one for the top and one for the bottom of the tank to enhance the colour.

Is this what you used? What did you do to the tank back? Is that just white paper?

Please, you have to give a quick run down of how its done!?

....after further review it look like its just shooting the light onto the wall and its your wall that we are seeing in the back of the tank... right?

Yes its aproximately that, just make sure its waterproof so the humidity dont ruin it and that the sticker is strong.

i didnt put anything on the back its just a dark blue coloured wall :), well it would be idea to put some white background so the colours dont mix up but even if you dont its fine!
