Honest question. Any reason to not get a cheap scale from ebay or amazon? I recently got a scale plus 500g calibration weight from amazon for $20, I believe, to measure dry fertilizers after reading recommendations on planted tank forums.

The one I got has 0.1g accuracy, but I've seen 0.01g ones for around the same price. I'd think the cheaper ones are not as accurate, but considering most people dose meds using spoons, I wonder if it's worth it to get the better ones.

No particular reason, guess just looking to keep the scale for a long time. It's the old phrase, you get what you pay for. :o

Do you think it's more about lasting a long time, rather than accuracy? The one I got is clearly cheap! There's no question about it. Just trying to understand if I'm getting at least some accuracy! That's why I bought it with the calibration weight.

Nice piece of equipment, as is Eddie's, probably better than the one I recently purchased-

It's worked fine so far, the few times I've used it. Pretty light duty at my house...

I bought a Jennings JS-V a few years ago for around $20. It still works fine. If I were to buy a scale today the one thing I would do different is make sure it weighs to the 100ths place, 0.01, instaed of only 0.1
I don'tknow if they are more accurate in practice but theoreticly they should be.
