About 2 months ago, someone local was looking for a bunch of plants and wanted to trade a 29 gal tank for the plants. I have needed something to use as a grow out tank for my baby angels and hopefully for baby discus soon. I didn't want to do bare bottom, so, it was going to be a sand cover on the bottom. I picked up some free lace rock and manzanita and ended up with this.

I created a pocket in that back corner and filled it with some ADA AS for the plants.

After the wood had soaked, I added it to the tank as well.

For now the inhabitants are 12 young gold angels from my pair in the hallway. If I need to use this tank later for discus, I will probably take out the wood and a the stone other than the planted corner. Hopefully it is soon.

That is a very nice tank- I also would just keep it as is and use another BB tank for growing out the discus juvies.

Just my $0.02,

Colin

I really like that setup, it would be perfect for WC's. Okay it's a bit small but it really is a good looking setup.

I have never seen it at HD or lowes or even regular landscaping stores. I have bought it at specialized rock yards though. A good LFS will carry it as well. Bonsai shops too.

Thanks, I stopped in a LFS saturday and they wanted 2-3 dollars a pound for it.
then i searched for lace rock in my area on google and found it for 90 cents a pound but it was all the way on the other side of the metroplex :( 65-85+ away
