I have a 55gal planted tank. With 6 discus, 2 rams, 2 plecos. Anyway I just started to have green algae growing on the top of the sand bottom. Every I do water change I suck it out but it keeps coming back. How do I get rid of the algae ? What kind of chemical can I use. Any help would be great thanks.

Never use chemicals to rid a discus tank of algae, this is a no go !

It seems that you have a well stocked tank and have a heavy bio-load. Water changes will hav eto be on a daily basis. I have had this problem before, it disapeared after introducing a group of corydoras to the tank, they constantly shifted the sand. However I'm not sure that the stcoking levels will permit this. It seems that you have already reached the stocking limit for you tank.

Is it green algae or cyanobacteria? Big difference. Figure that out first. Both can be cured with more water changes.
