hi everyone

had a question about tank lighting...

I have a 75 gal 48'" wide 20" tall was wondering what you would recomend for proper lighting for planting my tank for my discus.

right now i have the stock aqualife 48" t5 light at 28 watts x 2 equals 56 watts the tubes are 10,000k power glo's

i just bought also a HO 48" dual tubes 6700k each bulb equaling 108 watts totall...

so my question is if i put both lights on the tank i'd have 164 watts. well over 2 watts per gallon, do you think this will be ok A. with the discus and B. for the plants.

do you think the HO that gives 108 watts on its' own would be ok? or is using both bulbs the right way to go?

thanks everyone...

Check out my post on lumens (http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?p=651273#post651273). This will help you decide what lighting range you will fall in to for your tank. Post #3 will give you some ranges of lighting and calculations.

Hope that helps!

It depends on what you are wanting to grow and the quality of your fixtures. 2x54w would be fine for most planted tanks. The two fixtures together would give you a high light tank.
