could somebody please explain to me what the difference is between a heckel discus and a "regular" discus , such as pigeonbloods, leopards etc?

A strain of discus which shows a more prominent 5th bar.
I have never kept any but they hold a reputation for being more difficult to keep.

Heckels tend to come from more acidic waters, are somewhat less aggressive toward each other, have the wide bar, and are much more difficult to breed. Heckels are a wild strain, domestic strains are man made by crossing different fish to create a strain. My group of young, wild heckels, and one of my wild greens...
