Ive been checking these things out for sometime now..http://www.aquariumhabitats.com/backgrounds.html
My question is for anyone using these with canister filters, i have 2 FX5's's..does the pick up go behind the wall? If so how do you clean behind it as i know it will get dirty over time, WC can only do so much, i dont see how you can vacum behind it.. Just trying to get some info to make sure its not a waste of money, i think this will work great on a BB tank to spice it up just alittle! Thanks

I have one of these on my 75 and I must say that cleaning the back is a PITA. If your silicone work is great (mine isn't) it won't get that dirty, especially if you keep two fx5 behind it which would cause massive turbulence back there. To clean The back I just stick a hose back there and try to get to the dirty sections.

Ok great.. Mind me asking how you like your 3D wall? Was it easy to install? Im assuming that the pickup tube go behind and the exhaust you can place in front right?

I really like the look. It's fairly easy to install unless you have a brace on your tank, then it becomes a little bit of a pain. Make sure you do the measurements very precise. I cut mine a little too small and ended up having to put a lot of silicone to make up for it. I have two canister filters running in the back both of the intakes are behind the background and so is one if the exhausts. The other exhaust is at the water surface alined as a spraybar to add current to the water. I also have the heaters and some air stones in the back.

Is there any way i can see some pictures? I dont mean to be a pain but, geez, these things are expensive and my tank is 72x24!

Hey jball, can you post them here or PM them to me too? I would really like to see them too! I have been interested in these for years....but I would need a 24 x 72 and before laying down that kind of cash, would need more info too.
Thanks,
best regards,
Harriett

Hey Harriett,

I forwarded the same message I sent machine77 to you. Hope they help you.

I'm going to post pics on here once the sponge filters are out and the plants grow in some.

I built a wet/dry behind mine. It works great, you don't see any of your hardware & I built it so you don't see where the water leaves or where it returns. The background also contains the sump so the water never leaves the tank.

Would you happen to have pictures? Thanks
