I've got a 300, thought I would grow these out some, put the best ones in it, and sell off the rest. Hopefully I can get both male and female from this group.

That's awesome. 300 would be a great tank for these guys. They're fast swimmers and deadly hunters. I've seen a few in 200+ gallon tanks and they look great. The tough part was training them to eat market fish meat and pellets instead of live food.

I've had tems in the past. They are not really that hard to train once they reach the size where they hit anything tossed into the water. Heck, these are that way now. They will eat until they look like they will pop, and still look for more food. The species are eating machines. :D

Yes, Cichla is the scientific name, commonly known as peacock bass.

Fish are growing quickly, already 4", and are at the beginning stages of coloring up. Going to be some beauties. Gotta set up another tank for them soon.

Nice I alway's wanted peacock bass. I catch them in the canals around my city and they put up a great fight! I have no room for the 100 + gallon tank you need for them. Have you feed them live food yet? Dan

At the moment, they are eating lots of guppies and live blackworms. I want to go to South Florida one day to fish the canels for exotics. It's on my "bucket list".

Peruivan monos average around 5 lbs., but can get up to 10 lbs., and from 12 to 24" long as adults. Here's a picture of a adult mono (not mine)...

Cullinator, not a bad idea. Throw them in, blink, and they would be gone! :D

Well, the little demons outgrew the 55 gal., so I put them in this 240 gal. All is well, for now! :D

These fish are continuing to grow in the 240 gal. Recently, some have suggested that some of these fish may in fact be Cichla Pleiozona because of what appears to be a fourth bar developing on some of them. This would make these fish much more desirable and rare...
