yes..some people like the old strains..but some people like the new splashy colours. these guys are still young..but they are getting bluer all the time. the blues seem to grow very fast .not a very good picture.

The new Philippine Blue strains are what made my business grow the past 1 1/2 years. I was probably one of the first to release them in the marketplace here in the USA. I still can't raise enough of them. I have been crossing them back to wilds and some of my stock to get better breeding stock, and finally it is paying off........ Enjoy them and check out my website for lots of different blue angels!!

Hi April:
Sorry - I always seem to be hijacking your threads :o

Wanted to post a couple of shots of the blues I got from you. Once you get them home, they settle in quickly and their real colors come out. They also get much more blue as they get older.

Not all the ones in the group shot are from you. The lighter, more turquoise larger ones I got a few months earlier.

By the way - that tank, my Osaka, has absolutely NO substrate of any kind! Well, unless you consider 1000 moss balls substrate :) Can you believe it? All my plants are growing like weeds - no ferts, no CO2, NOTHING except the good ol' natural fertilizer of a grossly overstocked tank!!! LOL

I really like those! Wild type with some blue. I also like that blue pearlscale to the left in the picture with all of them.

Thanks Matt! By the way, they go just as crazy for the freeze dried blackworms as my discus do.

Hi April,

Did you know this blue angelfish originated right here in Brisbane, and was sent overseas a few years ago? Ross Patrick from Bayfish discovered the mutation and bred them in huge quantities. He told me about them maybe 5 years ago when he was over for a visit, we are both very interested in genetics and fishbreeding, and despite being in competition in business we are still friendly. Great to see aussie fish being so popular :)

well thats cool Rod..now i know their history. thanks for the info. : ) well they are still fairly uncommon here in canada..but starting to see them around a bit more with the transhippers.
another one i had before was one called trans neon. it was white like its skin was peeled offo with some very shiny spots. the shiny spots showed hints of blue shine . havent seen those much..but i see our angel sponsor has some similar on his site. believe the pearl blue ones from pinoy.

I believe that they are Philippine Blue X Silver. I have some also and that's what they were sold as from a reputable breeder. A Pinoy Blue angelfish is a black angelfish with two PB genes. Here is a picture of a Pinoy from Ken Kennedy. He is one of the first guys with the PB gene.

here is a definition of those with the PB gene. http://www.angelfish.net/VBulletin/showpost.php?p=168259&postcount=62
