Can someone tell me what breeders from this forum's list of sponsors have the best shipping deals? It seems like every website I go to, the shipping cost is $100+. :(

I'm looking for 6 juveniles (3-4") or two adults (4"+).

Experienced online buyers please help! :)

Discus Hans shipping is usually between $35-$55 depends on box size.

It also depends a lot on your location. I think it was around $65 for 2 adults shipped to me from Kenny, California to South Carolina. Honestly, any of the sponsors will be a good choice. You get what you pay for, shipping is just one of those things we have to do to get good fish!

Quite frankly I am suprised that the shipping cost aren't higher than they are, and I am sure none of the sponsors are making any profit off of the shipping charges. What do you think a styrofoam box of good quality+ heat packs+triple bags+gas to drive them too the airport+the cost of shipping them overnight should cost, not to mention the time involved.?

if you can afford discus you can afford shipping.i do not think any of the sponsers are making any money off of shipping.its in there best interest to find the safest method of shipping for a reasonable price.$100 sounds normal.as long as the fish arrives alive, safe, and healthy its money well spent.

Thanks for the input all!!!

It looks like Discus Hans has a good reputation along with good looking discus. I hope his pricing doesn't break the bank. :)

I'm in Ithaca NY. I heard theres some breeders in Rochester but I'm not sure if they're still actively breeding discus. Any connect would help :). I don't have a car so I figure the cost of shipping shouldn't be too far from renting a car. :)

hey sean. i'm from rochester. i found a local breeder here and i got 6 juvies from him about a month ago. they are all doing great. he is in this forum and goes by the name mench. look for him and contact him. he is very knowledgeable and nice. he's been in this hobby for over 20 or 30 years.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if he ships?

I found a dealer in Jersey who will ship for $35. He has some pretty good discus. It's just that I don't have a car, and renting one out to travel out to Rochester would be more expensive than for me to pay for shipping.
