When I get my tank setup, I was wondering what type of wood would be good for a Biotope themed tank? I'm not exactly sure what type of wood is native to their habitats.

Soul.. welcome to SD..

i have seen some driftwood that is long and skinny.. like roots coming down into tank.. those look the best.. i dont' know the name.. but Dustin at Gulf Coast Discus, one of the sponsors, has some.. they look really great in the tanks.. he can answer it for you..

good luck.. have fun learning about your new hobby..

How do we hold the roots to be upright and "flying" like that?

in the pic you can see in the back left the handles of a large clamp. the others are tied to the poles of my lights.and a few are just standing up and leaning on the sides.
