I'm thinking about setting up a 75 Gallon Discus tank. Would you recommend Wet Dry Filters? I use them in saltwater and they work great.....but i've heard that that can produce alot of nitrates. Has anyone had success with wet dry filters in discus tanks? Thanks

I've been using homemade versions of sump/wet-dry filters for many years on all kinds of tanks, discus included. If you have a drilled tank, this is the way to go. I'm not a fan of hang-on overflows. Now, if you have an old aquarium lying around, use it as a sump, throw a filter bag full of SeaChem "Matrix" in the bottom, wedge a piece of 4" thick "Poret" foam in it, and you have a great filter just as good or better than a $300 dollar high class acrylic wet-dry. :D Nitrates shouldn't be a problem in a properly cared for discus tank, because you need to keep things clean and the water changed to have healthy fish anyway.
