salt and carbon?

Hi all:
my question is during nitrogen cycle the new tank,do I need to add some salt in the tank? will it kill the nitro becteria? Also do I need to remove the carbon out of the filter? will the carbon effect the nitro becteria also? cus I saw the the bottle of bio-spiral said remove the carbon,but I`m not using bio-spiral do I still need to remove them?

Carbon won't affect salt or the biofiltration. Also, salt won't affect the biofiltration either. You do not need to use salt unless you are treating for nitrite poisoning or medicinal purposes.
