Has anyone thought about placing a layer of plastic - maybe like something polyurethane with the color of sand at the bottom of the tank?

I was thinking some kind of plyable plastic that could be cut to size. Something that would be about 1/16" thick. It could be cut to fit the bottom of your tank and then some silicone around the edges to seal it.

Just to cover the glass bottom. I think that paper backgrounds underneath the glass are not as attractive.

I am using tile in the bottom of my new tank. I got a color that looks like a dark sand and the tile is only about 1/4" thick.

I have a good friend who did his tank like this. http://www.fishyreview.com/fake_sand.html

It looks as if there is sand on the inside of the tank.

Very cool.

He and his son made a very nice tank stand for me, I will be posting pictures of it in a new thread in the Technical & Do-It-Yourself section, this section!!!

Hope you like it,
