not if its the only fish you have brought into that tank?

size depends on number/size/source of fish.. you are putting QT..

YES!!!!! you do. Anytime you add anything new it is a must. I lost 7 discus back a year ago when I didn't QT a few new fish. I use a 30 gallon tank for any new fish I get and QT them for 4-6 weeks.

+1 on the quarantine. I didn't feel like it just a couple weeks ago when I got more discus, then one of my old discus got sick so I had to run out and blow money on meds (Maracyn 1 & 2 together has always worked well for me). Luckily, he's looking good now in his temporary 20g home.

Just a note... qt is for the new fish too so they can adapt/settle in without being harassed

Keeping discus is a big investment......Don't rush it......Get all your set up ready and then go for it.

Imo better in a tank cos you can view the fish.....plastic container(what kind?)....QT needs to monitor the fish at a glance.....eating properly, pooping, condition of the fish.behavior etc.

Glass is above clarity over plastics especially .....even a 10 or 20 gallons glass tank will do.

20G would be better......Be very careful with your water quality in a 10G......Could get tricky.

are you saying that a 10 gallon would work just not as well as a 20 and it would be tricky?

It all has to do with maintaining high water quality.......Smaller tanks may have larger negative effects with even the smallest change....Easiler to pollute the water.

Like I said in my other post.......Don't rush it until you are ready to take care of them......Big investment to keep discus
