View Full Version : Shrinking Fishroom...need to move some fishes...

Hi all,
Well I've put it off now long enough....My fishroom has gotten to be a bit of a financial burden this past year...Since I made the switch from actively selling fish to being mainly a hobbyist breeder having fun....It just doesn't pay for itself, and the utilities are killing me.

Sadly I can't keep everything anymore... I need to split the fishroom in Half..literally......that will still leave me with alot of tanks and water (close to 1000 gals)....but hopefully far less bills. I'll just have to be more conservative in what I work with. Not happy about this, but Its necessary..and will eventually make it easier to move the fishroom to another room as part of my long range plans.

As I move things around I am sure I will have tanks for sale and probably a good number of Discus as well....not sure on those yet but will post as I know.

Currently I really need to move out some non-discus as part of Phase 1 here.

I Have 5 proven pairs of marble angels here...$25 each pair They are gorgeous Angels, very hardy, prolific and healthy..I've been working with this line for 8 years now...I'm just keeping one pair.

also..
Free to good homes..
Festivums (Mesonauta acora)
port cichlids
common plecos ( not bristlenose)
Turquoise severums

No shipping on any of these things... sorry Locals only.

If anyone wants to come by, and check this stuff out, drop me a pm here, or email at brewmaster15@netscape.com

Please keep an eye on this thread as I will add to it as the weeks go by...
Thanks,
al

:( I'm sad for you, but think in this economy it is best decision. We hope to see your new smaller fishroom progress reports!

Thanks Jennie,
Just means I need to get even more creative with space...Its a bummer though, no doubt there....admittedly I practiced Fishroom Sprawl and now I need to reign it in.

Sorry to hear Al...I know that's a big trend in these economic times. I need to start planning the same thing. I should have cut it down 2+ years ago, when my job fell thru. But true...you will focus more on the important fish/tanks, and they will do better because of the added attention. Most times, less is more...tho it don't seem like it most times. Good luck with the downsizing...hopefully it will just be temporary...Bill

well..sad..but maybe you will quite like having a smaller fishroom and less fish. it gets to be over the top..sometimes. : ) not that i can talk..but mine are all in my store now. not one fish at home!! and then theres the warehouse..2500 square feet of tanks. but also a business. but i play with them..do wcs..sell..bye bye..new fish..all good. i have one tank for myself. a 125 with adult blue ones. thats it.

Sad Al. But sometimes one needs to step back few steps to take a few steps forward. Timing is everything brother. I am sure we will still have a god time.

If anyone is on the fence about getting some of the festivums from Al go ahead and jump, I highly recommend them. Great fish and they haven't even bothered my discus. I updated my thread with a couple of new pictures of them too.

Sorry to hear about the downsizing Al, but sometimes a nice little relief is good....especially on the pocket. Gives us time to recharge.

Thanks bud! Appreciate it and glad those festivums are working out for you..I think I have at least 7 pairs here right....and I plan on keeping 1 pair of wilds, and one pair f1s.

6362463625636266362763628I bought a pr of Ethan/Al's Marble Angels and as Al has confirmed they were a breeding pr. They have spawned 3 times since end of Oct. and this 3rd spawn I have been raising 12day old fry. I have learned to hatch BBS and make sure to keep WC going so the fry live. The mom and dad are still in with the babies and have been guarding the babies. This breeding angel pr has been great because they have spawned so easily where my discus prs have not got it write yet. Also my daughter loves them and likes to help me feed them. She also has better eyes so she tells me how they are doing. She thinks we are going to keep them all:D:D:D If you are looking for some breeding action in your tanks, give Al a call and help his son make some money. I have attached a few pics but I am still working on my camera techniques.

Ah Al, sorry that you have to downsize but I am in the same boat. I got rid of 12 of my tanks recently and I am thinking of taking down another couple over the next few weeks. Hydro and water bills have caught up with me too 8-(

Anyways, good luck with your sales!

Tanks everyone... made alot of progress on the down sizing....still a work in progress...When I am done I think It'll be a good thing..I'll be able to use part of that decommissioned fish room for my reptiles......so I'll still have alot going on...just cost me less to run.

Nope but I have a pair forming in their tank... Its funny to see 1 pair guarding 2/3's of a 75 gal tank from 15+ other wild angels. :)
