This is my first show tank or atleast decent tank if you will. I am currently in the cycling process and will be adding some fish within a week or so.

Specs: 57 Gallon Oceanic Tank rimless with top
2215 Eheim Filter
Coralife lighting 2 - 39 watt 36 inch bulbs
Eheim 200 Watt heater
Substrate: Carribsea Torpedo
Eheim Oxygen diffuser
Some Manzanita pieces, and some plants.
Currently using as well a Marineland 200b filter which has some beneficial bacteria to help during the cycling. I am about to add 2 zebras to help cycle.

Please understand that im just a beginner and seek advice, so if you see any mistakes in this build please let me know. Or if you have any more ideas please advice me about them.

I like it , clean and simple , what strain of Discus u intend to keep , since u r using only sand as a substrate it would be a good idea to put fertilising tablets at plant roots

I remember when I first setup my 180G, everything brand new!!
Good buy on that oxygen diffuser, but dislike the green eheim tubing.

Are the little plants anubias nana (or similar?) It looks as if the rhizome is buried, which will cause the plant to die. It may just be the angle of the pics that's hiding it.

Otherwise, it looks fantastic! Nice and simple. Can't wait to see it with some inhabitants!

As for the strains, I will plan to add 4 Discus Checkerboard Pigeon Bloods, I was originally going for 6 of them but decided to leave to in my room and the 4 to go onto the display tank in the living room. Im also planning on adding 4 Cory cats, and 8 otocinclus to help the algae and clean up the wood pieces. I dont really want to load the Biological filteration with too many inhabitants. I also plan to remove the Marineland filter perhaps withing a month or two once biological filtration settles in the new Eheim.

Leeishom: I know I dislike the green ehiem tubing myself. Since this is my new build I didnt know if clear was available. Were can I purchase some "clear" tubing for the eheim. Sorry as I mentioned first time using a eheim canister.

To: cooska; I actually attached the anubias onto small pieces or rock exposing thier rhizome to the lighting. I will update with some new pictures once I have some inhabitants in there and will show this piece. thank you though I appriciate your help. :)

Finally as for plants: The anubias are not nana. I think they are something coffeolia anubias or something like that. I support this due to the texture the leaf have compared to some regular anubias that I have. In addition I will add some tables as well to substrate. I already bought them just need to make sure the placement on plant is were I want them. Any feedback on landscape would be great. My mother was looking at the tank and wanted me to add the plant too the far right since she thought it was too plane. In addition can anyone Id my 2 types of plants that I have. I have a total of 3 plants two of them are identical and can be distinguish by thier light green coloration and they are both placed behind the manzanita wood. and the one in the right is another type. can anyone please let me know thier names if they know them.

Overall my goal was to keep tank maintance minimum since I attend college, work full time and have a family. Furthermore the goal was also to keep the tank unclutter and leave space for the fish to swiim. Thank you all god bless and happy Christmas to you all.

Thank you all for the nice comments...

Heres some pictures of the PB's that I will be adding. Like I said previously Im only going to add 4 of the 6 that I have.

In addition I will be adding 4 cory cats if im correct I think they are "False Juli" and 6 or 8 octocinclus.

Please feel free to comment on the discus. They are still fairly young the biggest being a little over 4 inch big. they have some minor peppering but I have high hopes that perhaps some peppering may go away in the new tank since I have more lighting in it. Thanks you all god bless.:)

Thank you for the nice comments "scotttomas". I actually read that many people have some trouble keeping octo's with Discus. My octo's do at time follow my discus but after a while they kinda just forgot about them. Could be because my discus would also chase them back. he he he.

Well guys I moved already 2 of my checkerboard discus pb's. I will post pictures tomorrow since at the moment the light is off in the tank and they are sleeping. gotta get that nice sleep they need it to grow.

I will probably at 2 more discus later on. Im still trying to grow them out a bit more the other since they are a bit smaller, I kinda want them to take advantage of their meals, now that they dont have my two bigger discus chasing them.

Like I said i will keep you all posted with more pics.:D

Try eBay or searching with google. I've read there are black tubing, not sure clear for eheim.
I'd keep that other filter, just in case.

I know my anubias is loosing some leaves im hoping this is due to the water acclimation, hopefully they will grow new ones. :) thanks guys. Happy new years. Keep comments and suggestions comming.

As a word of advice, keep that magfloat away from the sand. I used mine a little too close to my sand substrate and destroyed my glass. I have 4 giant scratches across the front of my tank now.

You have a very nice tank, but you need to get a background on that thing!
