I wanted to have a open planted tank for future discus to swim around in and also for it to be a planted tank. The tank is a 65 gallon tall tank with a school of tetras and ghost shrimp. Let me know what you think.

I just got my first discus and they are wilds. I'm really enjoying them and so far so good. Suggest understanding your water parameters really well.

Open tanks are not the best for discus. Too easy for them to jump out. Open tanks also evaporate water easily, throwing water parameters off.

No, I read it wrong. That's what happens after a while when you can't sleep. LOL! My apologies to the "open planted tank person".

I thought it meant no top as well...Scarcely planted tank is more descriptive. Nice tank all the same...Bill

Maybe he did mean open top. I cant see the top in the video. If so, Darrell is right; discus may jump out.

I too need to find a cover for my tank, I heard my discus splashing at the surface one night, scared me, I went back to sleep and had nightmares of finding my discus shriveled on the floor!!! D:

The first image in my mind, was a tank where the plants were growing from under the water, up outside the top of the tank...Bill
