Hi everyone,

Here's my dilemma:

I have a double T-5 108 watt light strip with one 6,700K daylight bulb. I want a whiter light to better show the fish. I was thinking of adding a 10,0000K daylight bulb to the 6,700K  Have any of you tried this combo? What can I expect before I shell out the bucks.

PS: this is a low tech, low light, discus planted tank.

Just stay above 8,000k and on most brands you'll avoid the "yellow look". Changing to at least one 10,000k bulb would give you more of a crisp "white" look, while plesantly keeping the color on blues and greens but reds will suffer just a bit. Sadly, in my opinion it's all a trial and error thing untill you achieve the look you want.

I like the AquaGlo. I think it's 18000k but it really makes everything pop. It's great for oranges/reds especially. I would think one of those combined with a 6700k would be the best of both worlds.

I briefly ran a 10000k with a 6700k and the greenish yellow feel of the 6700k still shined through. The 10000k might've been past its prime though.

Thanks again. If the 6,700 -10,000K combo isn't what I want, I know where to go:)
