Nice tank. How many Discus do you have in there? They are running all into each other.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. The tank actually look more full then it really is. The tank is really wide - 30" and those fishes are piggy. So a lot of them just crow to the front and when you do video, you cant really show the depth of it.

When I first plant on doing a discus tank, I wanted to have a lot of discus so I design my wet & dry to be almost the same size as the tank. The tank is 240G and the sump/wet&dry is 200G. My Aqua UV 80 Watt deal with all the algae issue and bacteria.

I did a quarter of the tank water change (100G) weekly or biweekly if im lazy.

Now for the worst part, im not done adding fishes yet. Still need 2 or 3 red cover then maybe ill be done.

That's crazy you have such a huge sump, but that's great. Do you check for your nitrates? I am not one to say you have to do daily 100% water changes for no reason, but that doesn't sound like enough water change considering how many fish you have in there. But your tank and fish look great, so you must doing it right.

During the first 2 months, I test nitrate, nitrate and amonnia almost everyday but stop after the result stay consistenly low.

i like your choice of schoolin fish roseline sharks. alot of beautiful fish in that tank but its hard to focus on any of them since there is so many. They kind of get lost in the vastness and just turn into schoolin fish with that many discus or just looks like a bunch of fish in a tank like Kennys tanks right before he sells them but to each its own. very nice setup though and good job of keepin them healthy

Beautiful healthy discus, I hope mine grow up to look as nice as these :)
I love how the roots provide a dark hiding place! You have so many, can I have a couple ;) Jokes

Actually, now that I think of it, can't you sell adult discus for far higher prices than juvenile discus?
So, since you have so many, you could in the future, sell some and potentially make a great deal of money, and use that money to fuel your hobby farther :) Like buying an RO filter?

I don't know, it's just a thought :)

Where did you buy you discus? online? These are some of the nicest I've seen =)
It's great you have a HUGE sump, when I set up my next discus tank, I'm going to make a sump with an almost equal volume as well =)
Well done =D

I will never do a tank without a sump!! They are just so much easier to tank care of and keep all the heaters and what not hidden. Plus I'm not a fan of plumbing hanging over the rim of a tank!

That tank looks spotless! I love it. Your fish look happy and healthy, and the mix of colors is awesome. Are you seeing any spawning?

They spawn all the time..sometime as much as 4 pairs spawn at the same time, but never any free swimer. Think I have hardwater but havent test my water hardness yet.

This tank is breathtaking! I am just setting up a 220g tank. Can you tell me if you get any algae issues? My research tells me that it will be essential to plant heavily so that plants take up the nutrients which would feed algae. However, you have what I would say is a low level of planting but no algae.

Can you tell me how you achieve this?

You know what, I didnt quite mention it but I have this tiny snail that somehow hitch hike from one of the plant I bought. It seem to eat up any beefheart my discus doesn't eat. The cool thing about it, it barrow into the sand in the morning but at night it on the glass and all over the plants. I will try to take pics of them for you to see. Wish I know the name of the snail.

And they don't eat the plants? They're just a night clean up crew?? that's cool =)

Malaysian trumpet snail? Shell is longish and pointed on one end rather than round? If there are too many leftovers they tend to explode in population. Some people don't like since they can be very hard to rid of. I like them because they help move around the substrate, preventing dead spots.

I just google it and think you are right. can't belive the price people sell them for. I have no problems with them cause they don't cover the glass in the daytime and they help clean my tank of any algae and dead plants debris.

You can sell them??! Man, I think I'd be rich in no time! :) Seriously though, if your tank is in balance the snails won't overrun it.

Unfortunately, he broke down the tank and sold off all the discus. He's going back to a saltwater tank.
