I had a 300watt fluval 300E heating my 90gal Discus tank to 83F, it flat out failed, registered that the temperature was 76F (Discus fine thank goodness, got the temp up slowly) but wouldn't heat. Tried making sure it had lots of flow all around it, didn't matter, turned it off after i had other heaters in place to see if it was just over heated, still didn't matter. e-mailed Ken's Fish he sent me out a new one, then 6 months later it did the exact same thing, even when i had a smaller heater helping it. now i have 2 300watt Finnex with the digital controllers, they seem to work better, I really wish they had a cover over them though, because when they start heating they get really hot. :p
