Planning to get my first set of discus

I am planning to get my first set of discus. I was going to get them from hans since everyone here says he is one of the best. My tank has been up for two months it's fully cycled. Planning to get 6 3"discus is this a good number? also will be doing 50% water changes atleast every other day hopefully everyday. Just looking to see if I'm on the right track here.

56g column I'm getting everything together for a 120g and should have it running in the summer.

That sounds good, keep up with your water changes and watch them grow. How's your water? What's it's composition?

I have well water. My ph is like 7.4 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate is 10. I'm going on vacation in a little over a week so I was planing to get them when I return. I got a eheim auto feeder so I was planning to feed atleast 4 times a day. The tank has a eheim 2217 classic canister and a ati sponge filter. Also I'm using prime for a conditioner.

About your water, can you find out exactly what is in your water? Mineral content to be exact.

There are some but not sure how difficult or costly it would be to have a company do it. I'll do some searching for some kits.

Well a pretty good way of knowing what your water is made up of, is knowing the hardness. Do you have hard or soft water?
