Hello, i'm new here, and i have wild discus from about 5 months.
My tank is not commercial tanks, was realized with extralight glass (sorry i don't know if it's the right definition.) 150 cm x 60 cm x 65 cm (h).

I have 4 wild discus rio purus, 4 wild discus Rosč Nhamudą and 3 semi royal Nhamundą.
I have many other finsh that you see in photo hemigrammus bleheri, peckoltia L134, panaque nigreolatus.

In this days i have buy the 3 Semi Royal and 2 Geophagus tapajos.

For now i use 2 filter, an Eheim 2080 and Tetra Ex 700 but in the next week i start to realize a Sump with Hambur Filter.

This ios your tank, right?http://www.youtube.com/user/emigrafica#p/u/2/kYsBs03ya4Q
Could you put list of fish in that tank? How much and how many times do you change water?

robin1

Yes is my tank :) but those video was make some week ago... now i have only wild discus, when new fishes are ok a post a new video.

i change water every day, 3 times for day.. i have a r/o sistem of italian company that can make mixed water r/o + normal water (pre filtered) with wished values.
I create an automatic sistem, with timer and magnetic valve to start water production, and overflow in tank for automatic change.
Now that i start to realize a sump filter i study a sistem to make automatic change in sump and automatic treatment of new water with peat before the change.

Very nice tank and fish. Did I understand correctly, do you change the water 3 times per day? What volume of water do you remove each time?

robin1

Robin,
I am wondering about the plants in the video that are growing on the branches above the water. Are these [phalenopsis] orchids? If so, a very unusual but perfect thing to do, they sure look very happy.
Best regards, the tank is coming along nicely! Love the discus you have selected.

Yes are orchids, i try with one and after i added others, with the humidity and temperature they are good. In few times addedd new leaf and new roots... now with this temperature in Italy, i close the tank with a frame betwen tank and overtank lighting.

The overtank lighting was made by me, with LED light.

Beautiful tank and fish. You do such a wonderful job on design and upkeep. Nice plecos too but you sure that is L134?

robin1
03-26-2011, 01:23 PM
The pleco in the first photos is an L-014 (SCOBINANCISTRUS AURATUS)...
i have no photos of L134... i have 6 L134 but they are always hidden... :)

robin1
03-26-2011, 01:36 PM
For substrate i use sand, white and very small...
For the pleco, not all pleco eat slime coat... panaque eat vegetable and wood. Sturiosoma the same... but sometimes i see that follow Discus... if i see that is a problem i remove fishes from tank.
