Just lost 1 of my Alenquers :(
Didnt do a wc yet today just lowered the temperature from 30 C to 29C and in 20 min i have this discus just floating breathless.......... sob and sigh :(

did it freak out or anything?

did it look like this before it died or after? with the funky color maybe its a nervous system thing? I had a lss male breeder about a year ago that died from head standing he looked kinda funky like this when he passed but that took several days, never seen anything instant like this.

happened after the temperature dropped i went to make coffee and when got back found him breathless with white patch on both sides , was second best of 5 , the worse 1 i have is still alive and no sign of anything

Internal issue, organ failure or something. It happened too sudden for it to related to anything else.

very strange indeed! from 30 to 29 shouldnt have caused this, was this the heater setting or was it verified by another thermometor?

i have 2 termometers in the tank , when i set the temperature on heater i rswitched it off for 5 sec then when was ready just switched it on again

So sorry to hear this Vera! I have always heard that when fish die they can change color very fast. It was not the temp. change that did this, more likely some massive internal organ issue as Eddie said. You probably could not have done anything to prevent this. Stay strong and take good care of your others.
