HI wanted to ask if anybody has been having an issue with a Virus, my two computers got infected two days ago, first one then the next day the second.
The only thing in common is that I had this website open on both of them and I think I remember an issue with a virus a while ago.
the virus is called total security, it's a trojan that changes your system registry to always open a warning similar to windows antivirus and giving you false indications that a virus is in your system when in fact itself is the virus, it will open an executable qqi.exe or hlm.exe.
Just wanted to see if anyone else has had the issue lately.

Not possible on our end... having the forum open can't spread a virus, and we aren't using a windows based server here. :)

OK, so I wonder where I'm getting it, I didn't think I could get it from just being in the forum.
Thanks for your time

100% not from SD forum..
it will get from somewhere you go.. it is not call virus.
Here is how to fix Total Security Malware .... Click here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-total-security)
My best advise is reformat after you backup your computer data...

I already fix my pc's. Had to manually delete the entries from the system registry, plus delete a temp folder and some entries in the app data folder, but wanted to try and track it so I'm just eliminating variables, thanks/

I'm familiar with that particular virus. I had to wipe it from all the computers at work a while ago as I was the closest thing to an IT person (I'm not) and off some people's personal computers as a favor. I think there are a couple of variants or copycats.
Did you click a link to download a "virus" scanner because a pop-up said it detected one? Another way is exchanging media between two computers which is quite common especially in a PC in the same household.
I would install a virus scanner if you don't have one. It's a pretty old virus... I would also refrain from following popups. If you see something you're interested in then you should go to the site of a reputable advertiser directly OR if you're not familiar with it, type it in Google to see what kind of hits you get.
I use McAfee and it gives me a little check mark next to websites it finds legitimate. It actually blocked me from going to a site this morning about Cichlids and explained it was known site with viruses.
Microsoft also has free virus software.
Microsoft Essentials (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx)
Besides, Al and a lot of members on here seem pretty computer savvy and if there was a virus on this board (somehow being propagated), I'm sure someone long ago would have identified it.

Those kind of Malware can pass through McAfee , Symentec and Microsoft Essential...
always break through your computer with different kind of name anti-virus 2011 , 2010, 2012... total protection, or total security...
all are same type of malware...

I agree. However, that particular one is old and my virus scanner stops it in it's track. In fact, that's how I found out about the one at work was bringing work home.
No virus scanner is foolproof and there is always an exception to every rule but if you don't have a scanner, you're inviting trouble.
Besides, it's not the name that virus scanners look for.. it's a 'signature'. You can rename the same virus to your hearts content but if you don't modify in a particular way, the scanner will find it.
There's also specific actions they use to find viruses. For instance, it'll warn you if a program starts modifying registries or other executable, etc...

Mine happened on work computers and personal computers too, the problem was the signature files on the work computers hadn't been updated in a year (for whatever reason). Did you have updated signature files? If so, well then that's just bad luck, sorry to hear it. It happens from time-to-time and even to the most careful.
How did you fix your PC without admin rights? Hopefully your IT folks at work know about this and were able to take care of it.

I would avoid visiting porn sites on work PCs :)
