A few months ago I got involved with my sons cubscout pack as a leader.. My fellow leaders and decided that we should make a float for our Town's memorial day parade..... A tank was decided on... It was quite the weekend project! WE built it so its mounted on a landscaper's trailer and its quite a sight to behold as it sits there in my back yard. We have only one more coat of paint to do...have to give it some camo colors and some of those Red, white and blue swales for the wagon and it'll be ready for the parade... I think its the first time any packs in my town have assembled such a precision fighting instrument before! :) Was a lot of work, but alot of fun. I was never a boyscout growing up...so I guess I am living it now. :)

Hey, isn't there a rule on the forum about being intentionally misleading??? :D Hope it was as much fun as I originally thought.

Brew, Cub Scouts are at a very impressionable age. I don't think that it's appropriate to get totally tanked in front of them.

Truly, it's very very cool. I bet it will kick *** in the parade.

A few of the parents thought we should mount potatoe shooters...but Not sure about that one.. :) might not go over well with homeland security....we are rigging it with a smoking gun though courtesy of a smoke machine one of the dads has....should be pretty cool.

Thanks!

Awesome Al, I was involved in scouting for many years, made it all the way to Eagle eventually. Great program. Tank looks great! Maybe you can convert them into potato guns AFTER the parade, for a little home shoot. ;);)

Tomarrow's the day! Can't wait we even hooked a smoke machine up to the cannon and it spews out smoke every minute or so. :)

This is going to be a great event for the kids and parents!

Al, really nice job. Have a blast tomorrow.

At work we build tank mock ups which are used in army simulations. You can get inside the mock ups which are built and configured just like the inside of the tank. We have monitors inside which show the terrain you are driving through with sound effects. It gives a pretty realistic effect and the kids love it when we have bring your student to work day. You can even shoot the darn things...simulated of course.
