My aquarium cycling water has dropped about two inches since I am not using a lid at the moment. Is it ok to add ages water to the tank or should I leave it alone?

Just me for my new tank set up.....all new equipments like sponge filter, heater, air stone and air tube.......two days b4 fish arrival.....add tap water to sterilized tank and maintain it around 28 degree Celsius......upon fish arrival flip and flop method........I do 80% water changes daily cos I do not want to stress(lying flat) the new arrival discus too much.....you can have the tank running and put in the discus and try to feed slowly for the first two weeks.....gradually reaching the normal feeding rate or the rate you prefer, the biological filtration will be establishes and working by itself.

I got these blue diamond in May 2011 and they are doing fine using the above method.

pics taken just now.

Remember, ti's the filter and substrate that are cycling, not the water.
