Second Hand Pat

While feeding the horses this morning I heard a couple of angry crows behind the barn. The crows were diving one of my dogs and saw why. There was a baby crow hopping 100 feet away from the dog. I opened the gate and ran to catch the baby. It was just out of the nest and not quite flying. Cute stubby tail feathers reflecting it's young age.
I carried it back to the house with the dogs and carried it into the house. "Look what I found" I said to my distressed spouse and he promptly rolled his eyes into his head. I grabbed the phone and take the bird outside leaving the dogs to gaze at the bird through the window.
I walk to the barn and take it's picture.

I then carry it out to the pasture. The parents were both sitting on the fence looking quite sad. I place the crow on the ground it knew it was free and started to hop off. The parents saw their young'un and instantly started their angry cawing.

This afternoon the parents and baby were out by the front pond. Good place with lots of cover for a young crow.
