Hi, everyone....I finally have raised a small group of F1 fry from the spawn in this post

to a decent size where I feel comfortable selling and shipping. They are all about 2 to 2 1/2 in TL, way bigger than a half dollar and starting to get some nice red in the fins.

I have culled for gill plate, mouth, and fin deformities but if you notice closely in the group picture the fish do not have perfect stress bars. Most are perfect on one side but one bar crossed or broken on the other. I did not cull for these as I only have about 25 from the spawn and most wild adults will often have non-perfect bars, I am not selling these as select grade young.

These are hobbyist fish for anyone who wants to try a hand at raising some rare F1s. They have all been raised in tap water and eat frozen seafood recipe and blackworms.

Two pictures of the group but they were wolfing down some food and not staying very still, I moved a few to a 20g to take a better picture. The little black circle on the tank is a quarter just to give you an idea of the size.

Price on these guys $30/ea, will discount for orders over 6.

Thanks guys, well I'm happy (or sorry depending how you look at it) that I've been overwhelmed with PM orders and I don't think I can fill them all. I've replied to the first few and reserved those fish, as to the ones waiting on shipping quotes by the time I get true figures local pickups may already snatched the rest up.

I have another small batch (30) that's dime size right now if you would like to pre order. 8 of them are already taken.

Yes, Pat they did....those are about dime size right now and will be another 2-3 months before they are the same size as this batch. Wilds grow a little bit slower than domestics. But its going to be a while before I have another spawn from them.

I've just pulled them from the parents and will be separating the pair so I can get them fattened up a little bit before putting them back together. Male didn't fertilize as well the second time around but there wasn't a lot of time in between the spawns that I could get some good nutrition back into him so maybe that has something to do with it.

I think I finally figured out how to put bigger pictures up on here lol. Anyways, here are some bigger pictures of the juvies and of the parents. Due to a couple of potential buyer backing out there are 7 left if anyone is interested. The next group, another small one of 30, is a little bit over dime size at this point. It will be another 2 months or so before they reach 2 1/2- 3 in size. I already have deposits on 22 of them. At the rate they are going I wish I had a 150 batch lol

It's official folks the second batch of them, almost quarter size are already sold out and they are another month at least from shipping. Gotta say I'm happy with the demand, just don't have enough supply. So far so good with first batch except one shipment that FedEx royally killed the boxes.

Bad news is there is not another spawn in the works, I'm putting the pair back together in another week and we'll see if they get right back to it or take a few months to get going. Will update if any news.

That's really swell, Mark...I just moved the five into my group of young Tefe's for company, as they are about the size of my smaller females...They took to it right away, and joined in a community feed..They look great now that they aren't in a QT......Gary

Jim, I will try to get some pix of the new group up tomm, lights are off in the fish room now. They are little piggies, starting to come off BBS and onto frozen food and live blackworms.

It's aswesome that your pair, first of all looks great, spawns well, and produce nice fry. Congrats, once again. You are doing an awesome job! What are your water properties for the pair and fry?

The pair is in pure RO with minerals added back..I keep all my wilds in pure RO. Once the fry hatch I begin doing water changes slowly adding aged tap and in a week they are in 100% tap.

Pair ph 5.5, TDS 15ppm, temp 84
Fry ph 7.8, TDS 160ppm, temp 86

Jim I'll def stuff them for you lol... I took these in the morning before their first feeding, you can see they were about to jump out of the top for food. Lots of BBS later and big round bellies :)

Ok getting my tank ready. Was really jumping at Kens July shipment until I went back and looked at the pictures of the parents. None on that shipment can compare except his wilds and those are WAY WAY WAY more. So I will hold tight. Newbie cant wait can you blame me.

I can put up new pictures, but truthfully they don't look any different than the last ones. They are about half-dollar size now and it's about now that they will hit a growth spurt and grow an inch or more in the next month. I will be out of the country for the rest of the week, don't worry I have a sitter feeding and dong water changes while I am gone :)

Well put a few new pics up when I get back.

Ok here is an update on the second batch with pix, I have separated the group into two tanks for better growout....one tank is more shy than the other, couldn't get more of them to come out from behind the sponge filter. But as you can see they are all about half dollar size now, hopefully end of August they will be around 2 in, minimum size I like to ship.

Second set of pictures are of what I kept from the first batch. I bought 5 back from a friend just to have a few but then due to SecondHandPat's tank issues we held off on her order and moved it to the second batch so I have a nice group that's about 3 1/2 - 4 in size now. The one picture is the beast of the tank, I bet he is almost 4 1/2 in and the biggest of the group.

Matt, they eat frozen seafood formula, live/frozen blackworms and cyclopeez. They starting to take freeze dried blackworms but do not like flakes currently.
