Hello, tomorrow i will be moving my aquarium to another town. the emptying and packing will be done in approximatelly 2hours, the drive will last 1,5 hour maybe more, asemmbly another hour. I have two canister filters, jebao and tetratec. Should i
a)leave a water in them and connect them to the aquarium at the arrival and hope for the best
b)empty filer and relly on the moisture and water film to keep the bacteria intact
c)empty filters and transport filter media in a can with water

i like C.. get a $2.50 buck from walmart with lid. (5 gallon white type) put water in there.. and throw in media.. should be good to go

+1

I used C with no problems and the move was about 2.5 hours. Only thing I added was a battery powered air pump and stone.

Ditto on what Skip and Marc said. Canister filters are a closed system and no way to areation. Bacteria may suffocate without areation.

how are you transporting the fish?

I think C is the better option too - just put the media in a bucket and keep it wet. I think you can get away with your other options, but it's such a simple precaution to make sure your fish are healthy.

I know it's too late, but a all the way. It's only four to five hours. No need to worry about stuff dying.
