I bought this pair from Thailand 6 yrs ago. I was wondering if anyone knew what this strain is called now. It was sold to me as a White Dragon at the time. And has anyone seen where I could get another this coloring.

It looks like your Dark Angel was used as a ink blotter...

Never seen anything like it.

I was thinking in that direction. The Mercury I got from Kenny has the same blue peppering but not even close to as much. Did Mercurys come from Pigeon strains?

Mercurys are white butterfly or white scorpion bred with blue diamond so instead of seeing traditional peppering of black dots like pigeons you will see blue peppering.

LOL ya. I recieved several discus from a very nice gentleman there. All were very nice healthy and round. They all fared extremely well under my very noobie care at the time. The pair even put out a couple fry for me in a community tank. I believe he lost his operation during a tsunami and never rebuilt.

If I would have a guess at it , my opinion would be a very peppered white butterfly...Pepper is ppepper,,no matter how it shows up in the fish like these two...The almighty discus name game again,,no need for fancy names here..

pepper,,,actual pigoen blood discus are to appear have more of a blacker pepper most times for the older strains of pigeon blood..newer lines of pigeon blood are far btter when it comes to peppering...Pigeon based white butterflies have most times a bluer looking pepper, but blue or black and it is just opinion what the actual color is..still remains the fact it is pepper..

Newer lines? What timeframe are you refering to on that? I believe I had this fish either 6 or 7 years ago.

PB's have been around for nealy a quarter century now..IMO, today's PB's bear little to no resemblance to say, a Gan PB from around '92-'94..good or bad?...I'm neutral...
