The cold weather has turned my perfect tap water into not so perfect water (pH drops from 7.5 to 6.5 overnight). My discus are not happy after a water change and are scratching and shaking until the next day. I mentioned to my wife (in passing) I am going to have to store some water overnight, she shrugged and so I took that as the green light. One of my students surprisingly enough gave me a $40 home depot gift certificate so I saw that as a sign from the gods to go ahead. After work my wife goes to get a snack and sees this:

Suffice to say she thinks I have lost it. That is the largest barrel I can have in the house for now. That only allows me to do 50% daily changes but I figure that is better than the alternative. I like the dolly that attaches to the bottom of the trash can as I can wheel the can full of water over to the sink and to the tank easily.

Your wife is right, you are crazy. But so are the rest of us discuskeepers-- and crazy, I hope, in a good way...

Great post, I got a good laugh from this. My wife thinks I'm a little bent too. You ought to see all the junk in my house that I use to make water changes. Thanks for making my day a little brighter.
