how do i get rid of this purple/brown looking algae in my tank? i scrubbed the tank and did a water change to take out all the floating algae. but i came back about a week later. i cleaned it again but i am wondering how to make it go away and not come back.
how long is lighting on in the tank? any window near by

A rocket scientist or two will weigh in, but basically, algae needs an abundant amount of both light and nutrients to survive..Niether condition, much less both, should exsist in a Discus tank from wc frequency...

If it's brown it's probably not an algea but bacteria if your tank is newly set up

im pretty sure this is algae. and i am gonig to try doing a WC a day for a week or 2 and see how this effects the algae. the tank is pretty now that i have done it 3 days in a row. so ill keep this going.
