Just another reason for me to visit KY!!

Man those rays are pretty. Do you know how big they will get? Also, has he been successful with the breeding pair or are they proven?

Thanks for sharing.

Jeff

Ah Jen, better to have both involved, then when I say I need something, my wife would understand why and not yell at me for spending money, Lol.

I am not sure how big they will get I know they flower rays can get very big. I am sure he knows I can ask and find out. Yes the breeding pair of Jag rays are proven he has had 3 litters of pups so far and hoping for more.

Sean, your bother's build is very cool. It's more like a space capsule then a pond per say. Is the reason for the lid to retain warmth? Those rays are awesome. What is the fish in with the rays?

Hi Pat,

Yes the lids are to help hold in the heat since it is out in his garage. The last pond he had in his garage was open top and he had a lot of problems with condensation during the winter months. He did have some I believe they were called Siamese Tiger Datnoids in there but he just sold all them this past week.

Lets see, reason number 3 to come visit Sean in KY

1) BBQ (no offense but food first, fish later)
2) See Sean's discus
3) See Sean's brothers rays.

Thats a good weekend right there.

That is a sweet build. Thanks for sharing the pics with us. The wife and I have been wanting to do a big plywood tank like that for several years now. It's nice to see others builds to get some ideas. :)

My brother added a few new rays to his tank this week. He got another Jag ray and this sweet looking big Tiger ray. His size and coloring are a lot better seeing him in person.

I'm not a big Ray fan, but that Tiger ray has got me going. I would love to own one of those, just an awesome ray and setup.

I don't know Pat but he has 7 rays in it now. He has it setup on a drip system and I believe he is doing 80 gallons a day. Here is a pic from Friday the Tiger and one of the Jag rays are his and the other two Jag rays are a friend of his up in Indiana. This puts him up to 12 rays my brother has now.

Very nice!!! I think I saw the Henlei rays when I was in HK last year. You mentioned he bred them, are they difficult to breed? I would think so...

His Henlei is a female and he has not had her breed yet she is not mature enough yet. But he has a pair of Jaguar rays (castexi) that are breeding right now. This pair has had 3 litters so far and hoping for more. A lot of people told him they wouldn't breed in captive and our waters but they have. Most of his other rays are not mature enough yet to start breeding but they are getting very close. He got the Tiger ray in hopes of cross breeding some of the rays in order to get hybrids.
