2012 NADA FREAKING AWESOME Fish Party

I can not tell you folks what an amazing weekend this was. I just arrived home and will post each day as I best remember but this pass weekend was the BEST weekend I have had in a long time. I took a fish and came home with a different fish. I came home with the third class winner in the wild class.

While the fish I took did not place I am super glad I took him. He acclimated well to the Atlanta water and colored up and showed himself very nicely. More on that later.

The NADA crew know how to throw a party. It was freaking amazing and while the fish were very nice, the people and new friendships are irreplaceable. I spent just about every waking moment either in the fish room or in a presentation. I was dead each evening and hit the hay by 11:00, definitely a fish show newbie as many other folks talked and drank way into the evening hours.

Here is the first day. I arrived in Thrusday and typed this up about 4 am


First day at the show. Arrived about 4 pm and after checking into the hotel I went to place my Uatuma Blue in his tank. It took awhile the acclimate the fish due to temp and ph and while doing this I meet John, Chad, Larry, Dan, Matt, Joe, Jerry, Kraig and so many others. I felt right at home and fielded some questions dealing with the F1 Tefe's.

About this time more fish started to arrive. Liz with several of her BDs. Matt with his wilds and Alex's RT. Kraig with his wilds from Watanabe, Han's fish and OMG Han's Tefe RSG. Marion and her fish from Florida Discus and soon most of the tanks are full with every color you can image. Some other highlights is Josie walking around in her PJs and realizing Dick Au is standing right next to you. Andrew Soh found his way to the hotel and said boo to him. Freaking amazing.

I will add that everyone is fighting over the show fish for sale. Freaking feeding frenzy and sold sign showing up on many tanks especially with Hans fish.

This was the fish I took to the show. A large fully striated Uatuma Blue male. He is not a bright fish but he acclimated well and was out and about so I was proud of him. I left him for the auction and hope Roger took him home.

And dont forget the after party :-) Hearing the speakers was such an honor and so priceless. As was meeting everyone, though I never did meet everyone who was there :-( I have to say Andrew Soh is hands down one of the coolest people I have ever met! I definitely came home with a serious case of fish envy. And Ill never hear the word WHACK and not laugh again!

For me, it was very nice how all our speakers like Dick, Dieter, Dr. Petty, and Andrew were so open to our casual discussions and questions.

But DAMN that was great partying!!!!! :p

This was the one that I thought won. Then a hour later and after I had emailed Alex and told him it did win, I went down and my chin almost hit the floor when I saw it was the other one which won. Dick Au said the red in the fins, the stirations not being the same on each side and the fact that it seemed to be swimming a little funny kept it from winning. Thanks for the great pictures Pat. Oh, just so everyone knows, Bill from Inland upon looking at the pictures Alex sent me of the show fish he offered me noticed the show winner was not the fish Alex sent me a picture of. I am not complaining. Also, Chad reminded me on the way to his house to get the fish that I dropped the Red fish in the bag when I cut the bag open. I was so tired it didn't even register. Now I know why it was having swim bladder problems.

I think someone asked me about the sex of Kraig's best of show......so I did offer to sex Kraig's two fishes for free....simply "Chop Chop Chop and the truth will be known...." Though Kaig agreed to my proposal...he did pause for a second or two before he replied.......ha! ha! ha! ha!......was he worried???....too expensive to chop and cut????.......

Hope you guys don't have the impression I'm a discus slayer....... In those days.....I had at least tens of thousands discus in my 1000 tanks hatchery....so chop chop....is just like making pork-chop!!!!:angel:

I had a discussion with Jim....the new Prisident, that in the mood of the NADA show 2012, I wish to further support NADA members and give a chance for other NADA members to own my books at a discounted price of 70USD per book.....but the minimum must be above a consolidation of a set of 20books (20 above; 40; 60). This will be a one-time offer and after that, revert to old price.

USD has dropped in foreign exchange and normal selling price could easily be above 110USD to 120USD. The exchange rate now is 1.25Sing to 1USD...
In fact the price of 60USD at the show was a steal...which is only 75 Singapore dollars.

The additional 10USD per book is for bulk postage. Normally postage plus book from Singapore to any individual would cost 118.70USD(individual postage would cost 39USD per book from Singapore while normal book price is 78.00USD)

Hope Jim will help for the benefit of members. I'm now left with 70 of my first book, Discus The Naked Truth and I don't think I'll be reprinting.

So guys...think about it and hope it works for you.
