I just bought my tank and am ready to fill it up. Is it ok to use a standard garden hose? I read that they could leach chemicals. There is no live stock in the tank and the hose is old. Thanks

Are you talking about using water from the hose or using the hose to transfer water to the tank?

Pythons are a great tool, if you want or need something easy that's exactly like a garden hose, use potable water hoses found in the RV section at Walmart and other superstores. This works great for use with aging barrels and such. Regular garden hoses are usually coated with anti mold and mildew crap that depending on your water could leach toxins into the tank.

Not really because last time I was at Walmart buying a couple RV hoses they were blue with the braided coating, really good quality compared to the skinny white ones I've bought in the past.

Just sayin.

True - I have two 25' drinking water safe hoses... Blue also. Picked them up for about 10-15 at Walmart. Can't remember exact cost now been 6 months or so...but off for another tomorrow.

I buy inexpensive clear tubing at my plumbing store. The stuff is .35 to .65 per foot and comes in all the standard dimensions. Last time I was in I picked up a 50 foot length of 3/4" for $20 and it's still going strong.
