I've been looking for Wayne transfer pump in my area with no luck. I found a Utilitech transfer pump at Lowes. It doesn't say it needs oil added when used. Would this be safe to use for water changes?

Although it looks identical, I don't know the answer to your question. I just found a deal on amazon. A new Wayne pump for $99. with free shipping. I bought it (sorry). There are many available on ebay starting around $130. with free shipping.

Thanks for helping him out Liz :D

I use mag drive pump, works both in-line and submerged. It works really well for me.

I've been using the utilitech pump for 2 years - no complaints. It does need petroleum jelly coated on the impeller periodically or it won't last long. I only use it to pump water OUT of my tanks.
