Albino (spotted) Turq pair with frys

Hello all,

Here are my Albino Turq pair (Per seller, they're spotted but washed away). Here you go. let me know any inputs
Spawned : 06/20
Hatched : 06/23 they shifted too different spot of cone. They were tiny and we could not see any black eyes. All you could see just moving things on cone and parents were watching them.
06/25: this time you could see 2 black eyes, they moved around the cone, but sometimes fell toward bottom of tank. The parents picked up and put back on cone :)

Some of them mature enough dettach from parents, they are picking on CBW look so funny and some are not. I know some of you take female out, why and when?

Sound great but i notice the female pushing the male couple times. Have you or anyone ever seen female eat her frys just because she wants to spawn again? i want to make sure i am doing right and able to keep all frys.

Thank you to SimplyDiscus and all everyone here. Everything i did is what i learned from SD, so it's not really different/new to some people. First I did a DIY LED strip (see 1st video) and put right in front of tank and turn on over night. This gave them some light so parent can care for frys and frys able to see parents. Second thing i did, I took out sponge filter but still kept air tube in the tank for O2, then lowered water level down enough cover parents' upper fin.

well my camera broke, so i have no pic/video update. They're not much bigger than last update, they're eating BH, CBW and BBS. They're almost 100% dettached from parents. 1 thing i noticed 2 visitors came to my house yesterday, the female was very aggressive when they were close to the tank. That's very cool. I am thinking i'll move the frys next week to 25G tank.

Update: 100% tap water. WC 2x a day feeding homemade BH mixed and live CBW.

Wow!!! that's so quick 4weeks gone by just like that but lot of funs watching them. Very amazing and my whole family and friends enjoy them too.

Quick Update: I just introduce Dry Life Spectrum and set auto feeder to feed during a day. still 2x water change 100% tap water and just tested TDS went up to 650-680. so far so good.

Great question, i am glad you ask. I have very simply lighting, nothing fancy. The over head light is 4feet long 67K T12 bulk and the one that helps frys attach is 1 foot long LED using 12V output adaptor. you can purchase LED strip and adaptor at most of electronic store.

It is 24 long by 14.5" height and top 19 / bottom 14" wide, like the one at Petsmart. You may need to run more strips.

Week 5 update: another week gone by so quick, all i do feed and water change, feed and water change, what a life :)
it's coool to look at them eat and grow. that is a reward for working hard, just starre at them swiming around just like kids in the playground. This really relax and relieve stress.


here is my water change schedule and for those don't have fish room. I place a spare 20G tank right above the fry 25G tank and fill up water with prime a night before including airstone. first thing in the morning (of course after the coffee) i do 25-50% water change by using icemake water line, it's a little harder than air tube, let it drip into fry tank while feeding other fish tank and prepare breakfast/snakes for kids. After work, i do 50-75% (the remain of water in 20G tank) water change and wipe down at least once a week and fill up 20G tank right back w/ prime. End of the day before go to bed, i do another 20-50% water change and fill up 20G tank for next day. What a life :)

I hope i am not missing anything and will help someone in same situation.

This series of videos raises a wierd question for me.... I'm a new member of the board, watched a video or two of recently separated parents/offspring a week ago, same scenario, offspring in next tank... Both times it seemed the parents were up against the adjoining side, and many of the offspring were doing the same.... Do they know?... Or was it just coincidence? I'm not a woo-woo animals have feelings kind of person, but is this common? If so, it raises a question, perhaps separating the offspring by a tank or two.

I say this, I'm not a discus breeder, haven't a clue as to whether adults spend time at the sides of tanks, just curious if anyone's noticed it or if I happened to look at two videos of recently separated broods that happened to show similar traits. I do not that mean this as a flame, just curious.

By the way, beautiful fish, I hope the juvies turn out great.

I don't think they have feeling. The parents are doing that because i think they could tell new place and old place. Their brain could tell the direction just like salmon goes back upstream to lay eggs. They may recognize old place just like they recognize us when we enter the room or feeding. Let hear others think.

It's time to update. It's 6th week and lot of funs. I feed them and water change the same other weeks, nothing different. Most of them start showing 9 bars and some already bigger than quarter size, you might not tell from video because my front tank is slide in just like those tanks at petsmart. It's hard for me to get the right angle vs coin. I'm also eliminating and selecting 30 for contest.

i found 1 dead this morning :( after wiped down and rinsed sponge filter yesterday. I did not have enough time to look under microscope this morning. My guess, i did not rinse sponge good enough and toxic broke out :mad:

7th week update: very healthy and looking great. They grow bigger and bigger, but not to the point that move them to different tank. Sorry for the video so bad, but have couple great picture shots to make it up from 10 Years old camera so can't compare to professional please.

Usually i update it on Monday and sorry guys for late update I was so busy yesterday. Here is the quick 8th week update. I still do the same WC as above schedule, i introduced more flakes from Kensfish Premium food. I mixed them up with my BH mixed and i also feed them by itself using autofeeder.

for those who are curious why i leave a hose inside the tank, that is my vacumn which connects to the drain pipe/valve. I found it more convenience for me, just turn drain valve and vacumn the bottom. Also, i don't have to remember/label which one belongs to which tank.

10th Week Update:

so far so good, they 're doing great and they will go to bigger tank soon. I am still feeding them 2x weekdays and 3-5times weekend with 2 WC weekdays Morning and evening and 3x WC weekends about 75% each times. Some of them starts showing color and biggest one is about 50 cent coin.

sorry everyone for skipping week 13th due to busy schedule. Here you go week 14th update. they're in 55 G tank with only partial of water fill up with moving bed and sponge filter. At first, i had the AC filter running but felt it so inconvenient so i turned it off and still let it sit there just in case i'll need it later. I did a light PP about 2 hrs before moved them to new tank, the reason just wanted to give them a good bath. I still feed them same food, but cut WC back a little bit 1x 90% in the evening but i have time in the morning i do the bottom vacumn. They also in 100% tap water with prime nothing special PH 7.8, temp 84F, have not tested Ammonia, Nitrite or Nitrate. My biggest one is 2" now .

yup, i just finished it and bought new camera. My god, technology goes too fast i can't keep up with it. i bought a top of line Sony camera with 5 Mega Pixels back in 2001, now it can go to classic collection compare to new one way to small and many many functions. i don't know I even use alll those functions :)

Albino's are notorious for being slow growing at this stage. Is it the pictures because I can't seem to determine these indeed have red pupils?

Its a picture, i was holding the fish 1 hand and took picture the other hand, somehow flash did not work even it's my new camera hahaha. The last pic is more likely close to true color compare in person. This is 1 thing about Albino, they stay at certain size at 1 point and then grow more if break thru.

Week 22nd update: sorry for being late. There are lot of things to do right now and i push back WC 70-90% every 2 days minium but if i have time i still do extra WC in between. Also, I am feeding them New Spectrum most of the time, sometimes BH and FDBW in between.

Update week 24: well i am kinda worry about them, somehow they start lacking off eating. I am trying different foods but they're not really crazy about it. They are active still but i just worry about it or i just miss the big belly :) . I am thinking about feeding them live worms just want to see their big belly again.

Week 35 update: Just over all info: they're 55G tank with sponge filter and K1 bottle. Temp is set at 84F and WC everyone 2days @ 80 percent with straight tap water 7.8 PH, 490 TDS, Prime. I am feeding homemade BH, Live CBW (from Dan), FDBW (from AL), Flakes (Kensfish), New Spectrum, usually i feed 2 times a day morning and evening but weekend more if i have time. My biggest one is 4 1/4".

Hopefully i cover everything, if not please let me know.
