Good luck with all the fry you have to raise now!

The wrigglers should be free swimmers soon however, I hold little hope for attachment because they are in a community tank with a black background, black sponge filter and some manzanita. I imagine most if not all will get eaten (I think about 1/2 of the wrigglers already have) before they find their parents.
However, I bought a new tank (like I have the room for it -hahaha) so I will set that up this weekend and they can try again in that if needed.

Well as expected, when I woke up this morning, almost all of the wrigglers were gone. I watched a few swim around and then get eaten by my apistos. I am sure they were very happy with this great meal. Later I went back to look and there were 4 left but they looked too weak to even become free swimmers so, they will probably be lunch for someone soon.
At least I have a tank and a cone from Barb that I can set up for the confirmed pair. Will work on that today.
They were good parents too. Such a shame but, that is what happens in a community tank when discus spawn.:(

That's what happens in breeding tanks too sometimes, you've just been blessed enough not to experience that. :) Good luck with the new tank set up.

I've heard stories of the parents eating their own fry! Fortunately my discus I also great parents. Good luck with the second pair!

So, I boxed up and rearranged a bunch of stuff to make room for the tank and put the stand together today. It's level - yea! Tomorrow I will clean and set up the tank. But can the pair wait for the tank? Outlook not so good. All the wrigglers got eaten earlier today so now they are doing the maiting dance and cleaning a leaf on the amazon sword already. I hope they can wait two days before laying eggs. If not there will be some caviar left in the tank for the other fish.

Discus don't wait for anything, sometimes not even for a divider to be removed. I don't remember who posted it but I LMAO when I saw the pics of a female laying on one side of a clear divider and the male making passes on the other side. If they do spawn before you get the new tank set up it'll just be another week before they go again, no worries.

Too funny. I would love to see that.

I am pretty sure that they will never ever spawn again because they are just not capable ;-)

So I have them in the new tank now with one of Barb's (Disgirl) cones. My husband asked me if I was gonna have another "ugly" tank (i.e. BB). I said it will still have pretty fish in it besides, I still have 5 other tanks with plants.
My 75 G DT is looking kinda empty now. :(

So, I had the pair in their own tank for almost 3 weeks with one of Barb's cones and nothing happened. Yesterday, I decided to put the fry from my 1st pair into that tank since they are now 32 days old and take this pair out and put them back into the 75 gallon DT. I woke up this morning and saw that they had laid eggs in the 75 DT. What is up with that??????

I finally have this pair in their own tank now so the fry did not become food for the other fish this time.

Thanks! It's so interesting that I bought 6 discus from Kenny in January (4 virgin reds and 2 blue scorpion/ss) and I ended up with 2 confirmed pairs. Each of the 2 pairs consists of a female VR x male blue scorp/ss. I have fry from the 1st pair of VR x blue scorp/ss that are now almost 3 months old (http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?97914-Eeeek.-I-was-not-prepared-for-this..../page9) and now the fry from this 2nd pair VR x blue scorp/ss. I am curious to see if the fry look the same from both pairs or if there will be some variation. I really have no knowledge of discus genetics.
