A couple of snaps of my biggest discus. They are growing fast.

I think someone told me the brown one might be crossed with a few things (when I posted a younger picture of him). He is developing more blue all the time.

Also, is the blue one what you might call a cobalt?

Looks like a cobalt on the left and domestic red spotted green on the right (second picture also).

Tannin, When you received these fish what were they supposed to be?

Thanks. When I started I was afraid that none of my first purchases would ever look any good. But these 2 (and one other Blue Diamond) are starting to develop really well.

It was not specified. A local pet store in a mall has 2 tanks of mixed discus. Lot's of different types, but all too young to be sure what they will be. The red spotted green looked like a brown discus, the cobalt looked like a turquoise to me - when I got them.

Thanks. btw. what does "domestic" mean in this context?

Means domestically bred, not a wild fish.

Oh right. Yes, I wouldn't expect any of these to be wild.

For being from a mall those fish sure are turning out nicely. Not show fish or anything but definitely nice fish to look at

Thanks, and yes - it also shows what can be done in a nicely planted tank. I feed them flake, dried worms, and commercially made frozen cubes (that contain a mixture that includes worms and beefheart and other stuff. The tank has reached a nice balance and the fish are growing fast.
