Does anyone actually use check valves on your air pumps. Every time I use some it cuts my air pressure in half. Maybe I need to start buying stronger pumps.

No, I place the pumps above the water line so they aren't necessary. I have ruined at least one air pump when it was below the tank with check valves and I lost power.

I tried not to use check valves, I also place the air pump higher than tank, but I have use them before and don't see any difference in output

Yes, if I have to put the pump lower than the tank.

I wouldnt take the risk of not having them and its a pita in my situation to mount the central air system up high. Of course in my situation I wouldnt ever notice if it was reducing air pressure a little, I use an Alita pump. So yes, I use them, and no, with a quality pump Ive never noticed there being a pressure loss

I use check valves as well... no experience of pressure loss
