Through Prabhu, I've been growing out 2 of Kenny's Penang eruptions. Using Matt's photography tips, I was able to capture a pretty good shot of the male today.

IMO, nice fish doesn't even do that fish justice. That is an exquisite specimen of a Penang Eruption, which coincidentally is my favorite variety.........................in a month or so............................sigh................ .

Thanks everyone. Especially Matt - I did make some mistakes on this one. Next time I'll drop the iso, and diffuse the light, and shoot at about 11 aperture - that should help the focus as my depth of field is extremely shallow. My shutter speed was also way to low - not as clear as it could be.

Awesome specimen. I know this thread was started years ago - do you still have him? What does he look like now??

Sadly, no I don't. He was always bullied by the female to the point of weakening him so much he wouldn't eat. I divided the grow out tank until they where both healthy and a good 5 inches then put them in the main tank. There the bullying continued and was joined by the others. He got sick and the meds where too much for him. That's the way it goes sometimes - and it always happens to the favorites.

Aaaah; I read your posts about that. Shame that it was this fish - he really was an awesome specimen. Bullying in a discus tank is an ugly thing; I've never had much success stopping it, except by upping my discus numbers. And even that was met with only moderate success.
