I feed mine zucchini and all sorts of other various pellets (one that seems to be popular with mine are the New Era pleco pellets, they're soft) and worms that my other fish get. When I had babies, they really liked french cut green beans. They also like the ceramic caves that I have available for them. I have pleco feeders (http://www.theplecofeeder.com) that work really, really well. A friend of mine developed them and I was very impressed at how well they work as a feeding station for fish, not just plecos. You can put all kinds of food on them--squash, shrimp, even Repashy.
Zucchini and Algae wafers if you want them to grow out fast and keep your tank clean in the process. Once people start feeding "fish" type foods, they shy away from cleaning because they eat what the fish eat and have no need to clean for food.
When breeding, that is all I gave them and they did very well growing out and spawning.
guess it doesn't matter now.. i must have forgot to dechlorinate the water when i was getting all the tanks/jars ready for the new fish
Damnit Skip.....

Ohh and they eat it, they grow, and they reproduce.
