Re: 280 Gallon Planted Discus Aquarium Build
I met with the contractors yesterday to discuss the custom build of the bench for the aquarium, and design the plumbing, and the waste water sump. At any rate we are going with something that looks like the picture attached, but stained to more closely match the furniture in my office. We are still on target to build out the week of Thanksgiving. I will post more pictures at that time.

Very nice. Looking forward to the picture when it is all set up.
Re: 280 Gallon Planted Discus Aquarium Build
Is there water in it yet ? This is taking way too long.....

Re: 280 Gallon Planted Discus Aquarium Build
If we are on track I will be water testing the plumbing on 11-30, but then I have to drain it and dry it out for the background. One of us will be in water someday!

Just curious Marnie, do you have a time line in mind. I bet I'm another 6 weeks or so from the sump getting setup. I didn't want to pre drill this one so I could build the plumbing to minimize head pressure loss., I must say there are some exciting large tanks going up these days, I hope this is the new normal!

Re: 280 Gallon Planted Discus Aquarium Build
Construction begins today on the cabinet, plumbing and electrical for my aquarium. I could not have planned this any better but this morning as I am having breakfast my background shows up. Now we can more accurately locate where the overflows and return need to be drilled when we do the plumbing.
The background is massive, thick and of incredible quality as well.

This is shaping up to be a stunner! Also subscribed.
Re: 280 Gallon Planted Discus Aquarium Build
If you don't mind me asking, how much was shipping for the background? Again you don't have to answer this if you don't want to.

$100.00 roughly to ship from England where it was made. Roughly 30 some odd pounds in weight and very, very sturdy. I just couldn't find what I wanted here in the states, and/or nobody would customize the size to my needs.

Thanks. Is it easy to put/remove from the tank?
Don't they have a branch in USA too?

I had the tank entries sized so that I could use this backdrop in 4 sections. They have a branch here, I'm not sure what sizes they do, actually, I can see from the markings on the boxes that they came across the pond.
